ABOUT BRAZIL

Brazil is a country of continental dimensions (fifth largest in the world), located in South America, with a population of 210 million inhabitants (fifth most populous country in the world).

It is a democratic, multiethnic, totally peaceful country, without social, religious or any kind of conflict, a country with a predominantly tropical climate. Moreover, historically, no destructive natural phenomena occur in Brazil, such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.

People from all over the world are welcome without any discrimination.

Geographic Division

Brazil is divided into five regions, each one marked by its cultural, climatic and economic differences. The northern region includes the following states: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. The Amazon rainforest and the large indigenous reserves are in this region, the largest in the country.

 

The Brazilian Northeast is composed by Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. Its coast has a large number of beaches, many still preserved or even deserted. It is also in the Northeast that is the sertão, the driest area of Brazil.

From the Midwest area the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District, where is the Brazilian capital, Brasília. The Pantanal, which is home to one of the largest biodiversity reserves on the planet, is also in this area.

The Southeast region gathers Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It is the most industrialized region of the country, where the best of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Human Development Index (HDI) are also concentrated.

The Brazilian South is formed by Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina. Region where the lowest temperatures in the country occur during the winter.

Structure and Political System

Brazil is a federative republic, made up of 26 states and a federal district, and adopts the presidential system of government, with its president directly elected by the people. The Brazilian state is organized into three independent powers: the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary.
